Elf City - What We're Planning

Hey everyone,

It's fair to say that we've received bucketloads of feedback on the City. It's taken a while, but we now know what we're changing and what we are not. Thanks for being patient with this - I know it has taken some time to arrive.

A disclaimer - we may not get to every task here quickly, or possibly at all (things happen and things can become infeasible), but this signals our intent to make these changes. Please be patient and we will work through the tasks in a priority order that is determined by us.

To be done ASAP:

These are things that have already been done, are considered bugs, or are on the verge of being implemented. You can expect these to be changed in the coming weeks, if they have not already been fixed.

- Increase the healing area of the banks in the Tower of Voices and Max Guild

- Reduce the brightness of the waterfall

- Allow people to unlock the Lorehound title if they have already completed all quests

- Allow players to pickpocket Arianwyn, as players were missing the final memorium crystal

- Investigate harmonised rocks, and make sure that we are not making exhausted rocks harmonised

- Harmony moss required for the Meilyr title to be reduced from 200 to 50

- Remote Farming will work with the harmony pillars

- Players will not be able to keep fighting edimmu even after their task has finished

- Dark beast enhancer will be fixed, and Kuradal will recognise that you have it as a task

- Ensure that the player's gravestone is in a safe place after fighting edimmu

- Agility course will not cancel or delete chat after certain obstacles

- Velocity will not bypass course shortcuts

- Keybinds will work on the gnome glider interface

- Add a PIN to Lady Ithell's crystal storage

- Crystal pickaxe will not appear as a dragon pickaxe when mining divine locations

- Butterflies will not appear over the top of the shadows in the Amlodd area

- Examine on the light creatures will be fixed so it does not mention muspah

- Loot beams will be added to shadow cores

- Lord Amlodd will not keep asking for shadow cores after you have already completed his task

- Adding ability to decant 5-6 doses into vials

- Stop giving golden rocks from the Motherlode Maw when the player has completed the statue or turned off golden rocks

- Tidy up the agility course's animations and camera movements to make the flow of it smoother. Will also address 'Loading' messages

- Books and emotes from the agility course will be made more common

- Talent scout to last one minute, in case player accidentally clicks on an obstacle

- Prevent players from dropping blocking and hindering items on the agility course

To be added to a pool of tasks:

These are relatively urgent changes that take a reasonable amount of time. We will attack these in priority order over the course of weeks.

- GE and bank elves to look different at a glance

- Allow players to view how many gold statues they have completed, even if they cannot access the Max Guild garden

- Add ability to gain golden and normal shattered heart rocks from Artisan's Workshop

- Seren to react if you are wearing the Seren god emissary armour

- A combination cape to be added that keeps all of your elf clan capes, and their functionality, in one place. This will be the '9th cape' design with the wolf

- Elf clan capes to be addable to the POH cape rack

- Information to be added to the title screen about how to unlock the clan titles. We will look into adding more trackers to keep track of progress

- Increase the chance/frequency of getting worthwhile items with elf pickpocketing. A communication will be released by Mod Timbo about the changes

- Investigating why the lamps and icons in the city only light up on World 2!

- Retexture the spirit tree

- Reduce the click area of Coeden

- Reduce the number of trees in the Cadarn combat area

- Battlestaff shop to sell staves noted

- Increase the average level of Divination locations by ensuring that 1 in 3 div locations are level 75+

- Edimmu to have reduced aggression

- Edimmu and Boss Edimmu to gain increased XP rates and better common drops

- Hard mode Dungeoneering to give vastly increased dungeoneering recipe chances

- Recipes to be purchasable with Dungeoneering tokens, as an alternative to finding them in Dungeoneering. High token cost.

- Level 120 dungeoneers will have an increased chance of finding dungeoneering recipes

- Motherlode shard drop table to have double the chance of gaining non-common drops

- Motherlode 'common' drop table, including rune and gold items, to be vastly improved and to add a larger proportion of Elf City items

- Blood necklace to work on bosses. This is a large-scale task, so this may come later

- Allow players to reroll harmony pillar skill focuses using vis wax

- Perfect dungeoneering potion to also increase the chance of gaining dungeoneering journals

- Improve the farming XP gained on completion of a harmony pillar

- Add the juju potion effects to the perfect potion effects

- The enlightenment aura will not shorten or cancel mid-agility course

- The grass on the Hefin mountain to be improved

- Graphically rework the crystal-flecked sandstone

- Attuned crystal seeds to be made more common, and from more sources

- Dust cost for crystal tools and attuned weapons to be reduced. Hatchet and pickaxe will remain the same.

- Time being allocated to improving the effect of crystal weaponry

- Soft clay spawn times to be brought in line with clay spawn times

- Looking at the % chance of triggering a crystal tool's effect with eye to improving it

- Move the crystal seed teleports to an interface, similar to the games necklace

- Add Seren chisel to the God Statues

- 20-30% increase to the XP gained from shadow cores

- Batch 2 titles to be given more suitable colours to their clan

- Shadow cores to be removed as a daily challenge

- Chance of charms from Amlodd pickpocketing to be improved, bringing it in lone with time spent at charm sprites

- Update the Amlodd obelisk model

- Enlightenment to gain a buff icon, showing the player when they are under itse effects

- Cleansing crystals to be made faster, but not as efficient as bones on a gilded altar

To be saved for a future update:

There is a strong chance (but not definite) that there will be a future update dedicated to the elves. We are reserving the following more substantial jobs for that.

- More interactible elves and environments, giving the impression of a living, breathing city

- Allow access to the Tower of Voices balcony

- Allow the player to inform non-elf characters about Seren

- Voiceover to be added to Seren in the Tower of Voices

- Tower chimes to be added to the top of the clan towers, as per the design documents

- Allow players to sit on benches in the city

- Completion of Morvran's slayer challenge to give a player one free change of the Max Guild boss portal

- Permanent dark crystals to be awarded from Morvran's slayer challenge

- A greater variety of Most Wanted cards to be added to Rush of Blood

- Investigating the diagonal bridge in the Crwys area to improve routefinding

- More amenities to be added to the Max Guild, including an altar, obelisk and decanter

- Puro Puro teleport to the crop circle to be added to the skill portals in the Max Guild

- Abyss teleport to be added to the skill portals in the Max Guild

- Post-statue dialogue with Rhiannon

- Seren spells and prayers, as per the Player Power poll

- Add an alternative 'elf smuggler' to Daemonheim, who will sell complete potions and portents at a high price

- Agility poses to be potential rest overrides

- Keybinds added to the serenity poles

- Crystal armour!

- Investigate the possibility that combat golden rocks could be given to the player based on the style they are using, not the style of the creature they are fighting

We want your help!

Some things are contentious, or need your input. Help us with these issues!

- Would you be interested in us removing the ability to gain Defence and Constitution XP from golden shattered heart rocks, when you submit them? It would give you fewer options, but the upside is that handing in combat rocks would be quicker.

- We are looking to remove tea from pickpocketing drop tables, and we are interested in potentially removing vials of water and summoning pouches too. What items would you want to replace them?

- Should we remove the clan titles from completionist and add them instead to trimmed completionist? As a note, we are looking to write up guidelines on how we add trimmed and comp requirements in the future.

- Do you want to receive messages when a harmony pillar is complete? Or should we keep this as an ability on remote farming and the farming amulet?

- Should we add potions that combine super magic/defence and super ranged/defence? Would these actually be used?

Changes NOT being made:

Inevitably, some changes just aren't possible. I have aimed to give you reasons why.

- Golden shattered rocks will not be added to Sinkholes. We have always aimed to keep them out of D&Ds and minigames

- Evergreen trees near the entrance of the city will remain uncuttable. It would take too much time considering the benefit

- We will not be doing more to differentiate the look between clans. I appreciate that this would be valued, but this would create so much work and would push at the tech limitations of how many different textures we can render

- We will not be making it possible to regain elf cosmetic gear from Diango. There is no variable that triggers on gaining these items, which is generally needed for Diango to 'remember' an item

- We will not be changing how the game removes the top of trees in Crwys. This is the same as the Grand Tree

- We will not be increasing the XP gained from corrupted ore. It was always intended as a bonus. The collective XP gained from Seren Stones is already huge!

- Varrock armour will not have a chance of smelting double corrupted ore, as Varrock armour only works up to adamantite

- We will not be improving the gem rock drop tables

- We will not be improving the general levels of impling in the 95 resource dungeon. This was intended to be a method of completing your impling collection

- Dungeoneering golden rocks will not be received from the resource dungeons, as the player receives no Dungeoneering XP in the process

- The bloodwood tree will not be removed, as it forms a graphical centrepiece to the dungeon. Feel free to ignore it!

- The XP required to complete a harmony pillar will not be decreased. Look higher up this post to find how we are improving rewards from the posts.

- Divination locations in the 95 resource dungeon will continue to count towards the gathering limit of a player. To do otherwise would be too lucrative.

- Supreme overload will not boost a player's stats to 120. This would be too powerful.

- It is not technically feasible to show other players completing obstacles on the agility course

- We will not be removing the cap on XP gained from the Serenity poles. We feel we have judged this right

- We will not change the frequency of poses on the serenity poles. Again, we feel it is judged reasonably well.

- We will not be increasing the XP gained from the harps. Instead, we feel it is better to reduce the dust required to make many of the crystal items

- We will not be able to make a crystal or elf POH skin at this time. We would have to develop, graphically create and test a new version of every room in Construction

- Shadow creatures will have no combat changes, but their Divination XP will be improved

- The obelisks will not allow teleportation to Familiarisation. We want to give players reasons to travel outside of the city

Could someone explain why this would speed up handing in the rocks?
