Have you been? France has AMAZING food. Italy has the best basics around, but French cuisine elevates food to the next level.

Not even close to a competition - hands down France. 

 

We backpacked and ate/drank our way through parts of France and Italy for honeymoon in 2017. Love the food straight through, but given the option between one or the other, France wins hands down every time.

Italy is far better and I'm not just saying that because my family is Italian. I've been to both, having been to Italy numerous times. The people are a lot nicer and the food is much better.
