Apparently there has been some confusion surfaced within these forums about the following matter.

Is this image below... (a Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza)

...this? (a classic Calzone)

Chicago-style pizza doesn't even deserve to be called a calzone, as it is nothing more than a particularly unpalatable casserole.

I was trying to be nice before, but you forced me to impart the truth of things. :jade:

Chicago style is a good idea in theory but terrible in execution. If you want a solid deep dish or pan pizza it’s Grandma style/Sicilian, or none at all.

Now to further incite a riot, I’ll argue that pizza made in NJ is better than pizza made in NYC, albeit the same style, NJ has a way better execution, and yes im bias as a native of NJ and former pizza maker and restaurant manager :chuffed:

Just now, Maggie said:

What’s a calzone

An inferior would-be pizza.

More charitably, a folded pizza of leavened dough stuffed with cheese and other filling, which is baked in medium-high heat. :P
