Inverted skillcape shards were introduced as part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations. Players may earn inverted skillcape shards while wearing the skillcape of the focused skill and training the skill during the anniversary event. Shards can be exchanged with Hans for an upgrade token, which can be given to the skillcape seller to unlock the inverted cape in their shop. If the player is eligible for both regular and master capes, they will earn both shard types simultaneously.

Shards are always earned in multiples of 10, and there is a minimum cooldown between each occurrence: You find 10 x Inverted skillcape shard. They are added to your Backpack.

990 inverted skillcape shards are required for the regular cape of accomplishment, while 1200 Master inverted skillcape shards are required for master capes.

Can confirm when restoring Archaeology artefacts that shards are not always earned in multiples of 10 - I earned 53 last night while restoring a piece from the Dragon V collection.

Clarification

Anyone wanting to get prayer cape, go to lumby catacombs skeletons (with a tumekens light), you'll get the master cape done in less than an hour. 

I actually think that this might be the way for any combat shards.

i got div  rather fast..  yesterday.. working on necro and that taking lot longer    tried   combat  with necro .. hardly got any.   tried   making  necro runes.. same result hardly anything ..   ritual   finally getting but  awful slow.  and i'm ding  Manifest  ecto
