Slasher3410 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I have been doing some research since coming back. I hear for affordability and opening up the whole world (pvm) wise the best choice is to go with necro having free gear up to T90. But then I hear for farming bosses best choice is range or mage. Especially range with the masterwork bow being out. Test that I have seen show that it is about 4% less dps then the bow of the last guardian. now I have about 1.1b cash stack so I can’t wait it all on one wep like buying an SGS and I can’t afford a fractured staff. What are your opinions?!
Papa Walrus Posted January 21 Posted January 21 It's really about what's best for you. They're getting ready to change combat and the traditional three styles (mage, range and melee) are seen as more difficult because there is more input and less friendly when you make mistakes. There is also a ghost that heals you consistently with Necromancy. If you are looking to 'get into PvM', the answer is 100% necromancy. If you are already well versed in bosses and want to try to do more manual inputs, any of the traditional three styles is a good starting point.
zorminis Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) Necromancy is king in terms of ease of use. Up until the end game, the damage is greater than the other combat styles. You have the ghost for easy healing. The combat style is not reliant on crit buff/adren. This makes it the easiest way to get into end game pvm by far. In the end game, all 3 styles beat out Necromancy but require most of the bells and whistles to do so. They also have higher APM (actions per minute) to do big damage. There is EOF/gear swapping, and some stack maintenance. But the other combat styles are essentially "get a crit buff + damage boosting ultimate, then do big hitting abilities" Mage is a good combat style to learn out of the 3 as it is easier to pick up. The crit buff ability cost is greatly reduced when you use Incite Fear spell. Ranged requires a bit of learning. This combat style requires a lot of stack maintenance work (ie. deathspore arrows, wen arrows, bolg stacks). Needs several EOFs, and need to juggle some of them depending on your bolg stack count/adren. The masterwork bow you mentioned is not very good, mainly a stat stick but it finds use for slayer. The bolg is really powerful due to its passive. Melee is very good as well. The zuk sword got reworked and is a key staple to doing a large amount of damage very quickly (hits 120k!). If you're just starting out and stepping into the world of PvM, necromancy is definitely the way to go. Cheapest and easiest to pick up. I'd recommend learning + get comfortable killing the bosses with necromancy before you venture into the other cb styles. Edited January 21 by zorminis

Slasher3410 Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 I was looking into that also! And yeah I think for now I will stick with necromancy. I have been watching some videos and I feel the t90 is good. Hopefully I’ll be able to use it make some money and work towards 95. I went tank armor path on it so I won’t have any power armor. But I agree when I use to play mage was always my go to. But necro has been pretty fun to this point. Right now I’m working on getting to 90 then I’ll do weapons and armor. As far as t95 should I focus armor or wep first? Millions of questions for a returning playing lol!
zorminis Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Feel free to ask whenever! I did the same! I started with t90 tank (admittedly, I actually never made the t90 power). You can definitely stick with the t90 tank until you have funds for the t95! Feel free to use this guide as it'll give good insight on what upgrades should come next! https://pvme.io/pvme-guides/upgrading-info/upgrade-order/necromancy/

Thank you!
Beast Ball Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Personally if you have BIS its between mage/ range. Range is technically better but it 100% takes WAY more effort. Mage is a very hybrid style. I wouldn't consider melee if you look at endgame as it ends up just being a switch
F1reCAD Posted April 17 Posted April 17 been really enjoying magic at the moment but feel like i take too much damage (most likely a skill issue)
