Deathstar Posted June 6, 2013 Share Posted June 6, 2013 speed vs velocity speed is distance/timevelocity is displacement/time imagine running a mile out and a mile back in 20 minutes. your avg speed would be 10min/mile. your avg velocity would be 0. so the answer, even though this is like 3 months old: if dx=0 and dt=/=0 and velocity = dx/dt = 0/some number = 0if dx =/= 0 and dt=0 and velocity = dx/dt = some number/0 = ? graphically, the first part would be a horizontal line graphed as y=0 and x>0the second part would be a vertical line graphed as x=0 and y>0 Link to comment
