Sheckky
Tribute to Guthix (free players and members)The events of The World Wakes have already made waves across Gielinor, and no-one has been more affected than Guthix's druids. Memstix and Runestax are spreading the word just outside Falador's north gate: extolling the teachings of their god and honouring his name.Speak to Memstix to pick up a three-piece cosmetic set of Guthix-themed gear, as well as an emote and an impressive override for two-handed swords: the Sword of Edicts (which, once obtained, can be displayed through the Customisation Interface). These free gifts are available immediately for free players and members.Guthixian butterflies have also begun to manifest throughout the game world. Catching enough will unlock memories of Guthix himself, where all-new lore about Guthix's life as a mortal, his ascension to godhood, and his relationship with the goddess Seren will be revealed. Up to four memories can be unlocked each day, and there are 15 in total - keep catching those butterflies if you want to unlock them all! Members will also get XP in their lowest skill for each butterfly they catch. You won't earn XP or unlock any more memories for catching more than 20 butterflies per day, though. Finally, Memstix and Runestax are building a tribute stone for Guthix just north of Falador. To pay your own tribute to Guthix, contribute a piece of rune essence to the stone. When you do so, you'll find out how many players have done the same thing. The stone will persist even when the event is over and - if at least 250,000 rune essence is added across the game worlds - the stone will act as a permanent prayer altar and small obelisk.Enjoy!Mod Maylea How to start Tribute to Guthix:Speak to Memstix just north of Falador, by the lodestone, to receive the gifts.Speak to Runestax - in the same place - for more information on the tribute stone.Butterflies can be found throughout the worldRequirements:None, although only RuneScape members can earn XP from catching butterflies.Discuss Tribute to Guthix here. New Combat Abilities (free players and members)In another batch of awesome EoC updates, we've introduced four brand-new combat abilities - two each for rangers and mages - and also expanded the functions of two existing dual-wielding melee abilities.MagicSonic Wave (level 8, two handed): This basic ability deals 120% of your active spell's damage gives your next attack a 10% accuracy bonus against the affected target. It has a five-second cooldown, but is a great way to help that big ultimate you've been saving up hit its mark.Concentrated Blast (level 12, dual wielding): This basic-tier combo ability fires out three magical blasts - each causing 100% spell damage. Each of the three beams has a 5% greater chance to critically hit than its predecessor, so the damage can really stack up. RangedDazing Shot (level 8, two handed): As with Sonic Wave, this basic ability deals 120% damage and makes your next attack against the target 10% more likely to hit. It's a great way to set up your enemy for a big coup de grace.Needle Strike (level 12, dual wielding): This basic ability does a solid 120% weapon damage, and increases your next hit's chance to critical strike by 10%.Unload: This ultimate now does up to 110% damage per hit to enemies in the target area, with each consecutive hit adding 10% on top of the previous hit's modifier. AttackFlurry: The flurry of blows put out by this dual-wielding ability now affect consecutive enemies in a 360 degree area around you. As soon as one of these misses, all remaining hits in the six-second duration hit your original target, so accuracy is key for continued AoE carnage.StrengthFrenzy: This mighty dual-wielding ultimate now causes up to 110% damage per hit in a 10-second melee barrage against targets straight in front of you, with each consecutive hit adding 10% damage on top of the previous hit's modifier. As always, let us know your feedback on how these abilities are working out for you - as well as any other EoC feedback you have - on the forums.Mod Avatar New guthix cosmetic stuff looks pretty cool & everyone go donate your piece of pure ess. You can only donate 1 per player so need 250k players to donate for the statue to become an altar and small obliesk. Haven't tried out the new combat abilities but looks like dual-wield became a little better. Also haven't tried catching the butterflies. I wish they came down into the jade roots Here is a picture of the stuff. I like it minus the mask. Edited March 12, 2013 by Sheckky Link to comment

Memphus
Sweet, now we need a chaotic 2H sword so we can actually use that cosmetic. Link to comment
Beric
Sweet, now we need a chaotic 2H sword so we can actually use that cosmetic. It'd be nice if they allowed 1H weapons to use any 1H cosmetic, and 2H weapons to use 2H cosmetics (with class restrictions). I can't imagine spending money on one of these overrides just to have a new game update make my weapon type obsolete. Link to comment

Dan G
Spoiler I think he's retelling his past and so is just remembering that one of the Elder artefacts, one that he recognises, was in the possession of Saradomin in the modern history rather than he was there at the time. Beric
Spoiler I think he's retelling his past and so is just remembering that one of the Elder artefacts, one that he recognises, is in the possession of Saradomin in the modern history rather than he was there at the time. Spoiler Dunno if you've read the rest yet, but he refers to the "blue giant" several times previously then names it there. I'm also putting money on Tuska being Bandos. Link to comment
Dan G
Spoiler Just read the other articles. Yep you're right it does look like Saradomin was at least present at the downfall of the Naragi world. I'd argue against Tuska being Bandos mainly because it says that Tuska did not look to be worshipped. When Bandos arrived in Yu'biusk he instantly attempted to assert himself as a worship figure in The First Age (not long after the events on the Naragi world). I doubt that his characteristics would change that drastically. Also it says Tuska is female but I don't really remember a gender-nomination for Bandos. However, it doesn't state that Tuska dies. And although nothing is mentioned it could be that Bandos is a descendant of Tuska. Interestingly, Guthix mentions that he found 3 artefacts on Gielinor. A staff, horn and stone. We know a decent amount of the stone and staff but almost literally nothing of the horn. Looks like that may be the next Elder artefact that a grandmaster quest makes us go hunt out. Guthix may have given us its location when he blessed us at the end of TWW. Link to comment
Beric
Spoiler I didn't notice this, but someone pointed out that there's an official picture of Bandos with what could be x'd out eyes. But I guess we're going to have to wait to find out! Link to comment

Spoiler Holy fuck to Saradomin is an older god than Guthix. Totally goes against everything we've learnt over the past 12 years. Crazy. And I'm guessing his helmet is his "one of 12 items" that grants his power.I'm confused as to how there were 3 items on Gielinor when Guthix arrived. Wasn't he the first god to arrive after the Elder Gods created the planet? Didn't he shape it into a habitable place? Edited March 13, 2013 by James Give the update a few more days before you casually talk about spoilers please! I did have a few people specifically ask me to make sure we don't spoil things. Thanks. James
Spoiler They never said which god was older. They only said that Guthix arrived on our world first. So while it was unexpected for them to place Saradomin (and possibly the other main gods) on Guthix's home world, it does fit in with the lore. I'm thinking they are going to make the gods dominating a planet kind of as a series of cycles. They only live for their own selfish means and spend much of their limitless time seeking out inhabited planets/worlds like ours so they may dominate it and grow stronger. Has it been officially established that worshiping a god makes them stronger? Or is that simply something I/we have always assumed? Link to comment
James
New theory: Spoiler There was originally one race, maybe just the first race in the universe. They were very powerful - possibly the elder gods themselves. New life came forward over time and eventually figured out a way to kill the Elder Gods and take their power. This would explain why they simply "vanished." I have that sneaking suspicion that all of the gods that we're familiar with achieved godhood through killing another god. Saradomin, Bandos, Zaros, Zammy. They all started off as a lesser being that happened to fight their way into godhood - slaying one of the elder gods or their predecessors. When you kill a god you absorb their power, barring the odd case of Sliske who killed Guthix and did not ascend to godhood. This makes me wonder what will happen if one person kills all of the gods. Will he become the ultimate force? RuneScapes own Highlander? This is my theory on what Sliske's plot is. Assuming Jagex isn't bullshitting us about his loyalty to Zaros - he's going to deliver ultimate power to his god. Otherwise he'll take it for himself or turn somebody else (player?) into a super-god. Link to comment
Dan G
Spoiler Interesting. My theory is that the Elder Gods were only termed "Gods" by those who came after them, but they were immensely powerful. At the end of their life spans they manifested their power into 12 artefacts, those who ascended to Godhood after them are the lucky finders of the artefacts and those descended from them. Lucien attempted to harness the power of the Stone of Jas and was already titling himself a God from having it in his possession. When the Dragonkin came they said that they were more powerful than the Stone of Jas could gift. So in my opinion the power transferred from God to "God" is weakened by that process. Skagorath may have been either an Elder God himself or a close descendant of one so that could have resulted in Guthix getting a more concentrated amount of power. That and when he discovered Gilienor he had 3 artefacts to feed from too. That's my opinion as to why he's known as one of the more powerful yet not necessarily one of the first. Link to comment
