My favorite poem is "Tyger Tyger" by William Blake. (feat. in "The Mentalist")

"Tyger Tyger, burning bright
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp,
Dare its deadly terrors clasp!

When the stars threw down their spears
And water'd heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger Tyger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?"

-war is kind

Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind, Because your lover threw wild hands toward the skyAnd the affrighted steed ran on alone, Do not weep. War is kind.Hoarse, booming drums of the regiment, Little souls who thirst for fight, These men were born to drill and die.The unexplained glory flies above them.Great is the battle-god, great, and his kingdom--A field where a thousand corpses lie. Do not weep, babe, for war is kind.Because your father tumbles in the yellow trenches ,Raged at his breast, gulped and died,Do not weep.War is kind.

-in the desert

In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial,Who, squatting upon the ground,Held his heart in his hands,And ate of it.I said, “Is it good, friend?” “It is bitter—bitter,” he answered; “But I like it “Because it is bitter,“And because it is my heart.”

“Magic

Sandra’s seen a leprechaun,

Eddie touched a troll,

Laurie danced with witches once,

Charlie found some goblins gold.

Donald heard a mermaid sing,

Susy spied an elf,

But all the magic I have known

I've had to make myself.”   -Shel Silverstein

The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe :P

I ended up liking it so much since it was used in a Utada Hikaru song that I ended up enjoying a lot.

Poe is the best! <3 The Raven and Annabell Lee @ Hess

But, my favorite poem is still JRR Tolkien's

We shall not always plant while others reap
The golden increment of bursting fruit,
Not always countenance, abject and mute,
That lesser men should hold their brothers cheap;
Not everlastingly while others sleep
Shall we beguile their limbs with mellow flute,
Not always bend to some more subtle brute;
We were not made eternally to weep.

The night whose sable breast relieves the stark,
White stars is no less lovely being dark,
And there are buds that cannot bloom at all
In light, but crumple, piteous, and fall;
So in the dark we hide the heart that bleeds,
And wait, and tend our agonizing seeds.

I must be no longer home bound

Even lost in my own world

No cares left for these cold souls

I wish them well

Throw a penny down a wishing well

The thought shouldn't cost much

Priceless

No billionaire's pocket can even touch

Taken in vein like the lord's name

Ironic, I say "Oh my god" in the same phrase

But I am not going through the same phase

Different face

Different shoe lace

Moving at a different pace.

To a different relaxing place

I am no longer home bound

So this cold world is my home now.

Windy Nights by Robert Louis Stevenson

Whenever the moon and stars are set,
       Whenever the wind is high,
All night long in the dark and wet,
       A man goes riding by.
Late in the night when the fires are out,
Why does he gallop and gallop about?

Whenever the trees are crying aloud,
And ships are tossed at sea,
By, on the highway, low and loud,
By at the gallop goes he.
By at the gallop he goes, and then
By he comes back at the gallop again.
