Hess
Today I learned that Mahalia Jackson, gospel singer, had a huge role in the speech given by Martin Luther King Jr. back in August of 1963. For those interested, the article is here, but for the TLDR, she yelled in the back "Tell them about the dream, Martin!", for which he then put his speech to the side of the lectern, and went off script and preached one of the greatest speeches in history. This video also gives a really cool anecdote as well, which I totally recommend watching! I guess today, as we reflect on current events, I challenge you to make it your dream that not just today, but everyday we join proverbial hands, every kind and color, to dream and pray for our nation and world.
