Anti-Virus Programs

So I got this computer about a year ago and it came with a free year of Norton's Premium Anti-Virus/Internet Security Software but it's now only got 30 Days left. I also have been running AVG free as well but I don't want to rely on the free version of something to protect my PC.

So what does everyone recommend? I looked at 3 all with a price around $60 for 1 year of "premium" protection: AVG, Norton and McAfee. They all also had cheaper software that was just basic anti-virus but the "premium" versions include online back-up for your PC if something goes wrong, as well as other features.

I don't want to spend more than $60 for a year of protection but I also don't want the "cheapest" program if it's not the best.

One major thing is you shouldn't be running 2 antivirus programs on your computer. They can interfere with each other. I use free anti virus programs with out a problem. I had avast anti virus for about 2 years and had zero problems. When I reformatted my computer my friend recommended Microsoft Security Essentials, which is also free. So far no problems. @ others are AVG, and COMODO which I have heard good things about. I got rid of COMODO cuz it was a pain with some of the games i played and Im too lazy to configure it.

Get Nod32 or Kaspersky if you want a really good one. They can be pirated, if you do that kind of thing.

The most recent update of Windows Security Essentials is very, very good. Good enough to make me switch from Avast which I had used for years.
