It's pretty good so far, though I confess I expected more given the praise that it has received. At least it stands well on its own merits, and what it adapts is a history that we didn't know too much about anyway, so there isn't too much to criticize in that respect. (To be sure, it's many orders of magnitude better than Game of Thrones, but that isn't really saying much. Although if HotD S1 is consistently around this quality, GoT S1 seems to have been better.)
