There is so many requirements to start pvming that i always get overwhelmed and give up, does anyone have any tips on how to maintain on this journey without feeling like this every time?

This is pretty general... you need to provide us with more information. Stats, gear, money on hand, what goal you want to achieve with PvM, and your current skill level in PvM.

We get this sorta question a lot, here are some previous threads on the subject with people from various skill levels that might be of use:

These are somewhat listed by recency and I didn't pull anything from further back than 2020, but there are also a lot of older threads with still good tips.

hello, thanks for the reply! As i said, my problem is getting overwhelmed with the lots of requirements to achieve, upgrades to buy, quests to complete, to finally do the actual pvm. So my problem is not actually with what to do, but how to handle this many things to do.

Set a smaller goal. Pick a specific boss or questline or skill you want to kill, finish, or level up, and do that. Don't think about the rest until that is done.

The best thing I can recommend is trying to enjoy the journey. Like amused said, work towards a specific questline (like curses). Once you get that, that's a huge achievement and deserves a celebration. You may have to take breaks here and there to get your skills up to do certain quests. Relax, afk, enjoy the game. If you are trying to rush head first grind balls to the wall end game pvm, that could be the recipe for a burnout with everything required. We have tons of people very knowledgeable in pvm who have made the journey from fresh account to end game multiple times, so don't hesitate to ever ask!

Like amused said, small goals are good! And eventually, you'll get there and will be a pvm end game legend chad!

Maybe you could target a certain boss like for example KBD. Aim for getting herb lvl for antifires or super antifires, and go whoop it's ass. If you find it too hard, level up combat, or if too easy, aim for the next boss. Small goals, like mentioned before :)

I would try kbd -> chaos elemental -> GWD1 ->QBD/KQ-> GWD2 -> nex / rax -> ED dungeons

We're skipping Giant Mole and Barrows here btw :P

And ofc Arch Glacor, where you can choose the difficulty.

If your first touch with "bossing" is giant mole.. you just want to quit the game.. too much running :D

hi everyone, sorry for taking too long to answer back, but i wanna thank everyone who responded !! I'm trying the short term goals thing, writing them on my notebook and checking every time i complete a new one, i think it's working for now. My only issue is finding ways to get gp to get a good tier 90 weapon. About my stats and gear: https://imgur.com/a/gHhcBj3, i also have curses unlocked!

drygores are cheap t90s, but since you can use hurricane with the arch glcor t85s i think more people recommend those over drygores, nox weapons are like ~250m ish for each style, with scythe being a bit more expensive. could also buy staff of sliske which is like 310m and t92. staffs arent in a great spot atm but honestly comparing like nox staff price to siesmics nox staff is like 4x cheaper, seismics are like 700m for wand and 500m for orb. you can buy ascensions for like 200m total versus bow at ~250m. but bow would require god arrows to be more effective so ascensions are the cheaper slightly better option. and for melee again the t85 glacor ones are probably better than drygores but also the t92 khopesh are like ~130m for both so that could be another option

those are the cheaper ones, you can also just focus on 1 style and try and just get upgrades for that style instead of getting like all 3 at once, then once you get most of the upgrades / weapons for that style start getting the other. recommend mage over the others but range would also probably be fine to start first, with melee probably upgrading last

hey halu, thanks for the response! what do you mean by arch glacor t85s? Also, i think i want to stick to melee because it's the playstyle i like the most + it's cheaper.

dark ice shard and dark ice silver, the weapons you have on, i didnt remember the names just knew they were the t85 variants from the arch glacor boss lol. also melee isntt he best for like the top end pvm but its not terrible for like mid pvm, scythe is nice, zaros gs is nice to get, think thats like 350m atm. trimmed masterwork armor is really good to get, ed2 codex's are good, greater barge / fury / flurry. limitless codex is good to get. dragon / demon / undead codex's are good to get although not a big priority. chaos roar codex is good.

getting a anceint elven ritual shard is good, thats basically the enchanted excalibur but for prayer.

could get a essence of finality but thats like ~285m and not the biggest priority, although it does help since you can keep a spec weapon in it and that will be the same tier as your weapon. dds spec on it is good and cheap.

thats mostly it without getting like too in depth with like the t95s and like enchantments or like certain gloves to use for certain things

i feel like a i got a bit off track as i just like posted stuff to get and stuff, but yeah honestly what i do is i like to get a big list of what i need to upgrade and like what i need, then i slowly just start working down that list. some people may say like oh get this weapon which is like a bil or 2 before this which is cheaper and it might be better but like as long as you are getting something on that list it will be helpful. im lazy, i still need a bunch of stuff for upgrades. once im back into playing my main a lot i will probably make a list of what i need and just slowly work on it. it will take a while to get stuff, but its also something thats not ment to be quick. you learn how to do things while getting upgrades, you do quests for some of them. you learn how to do bossing and once you get to the higher level gear you need you either learn how to do higher level content or you somehow figure out a way to do it with lower gear reqs thats you have.

  • 4 weeks later...

Yeah, it definitely is overwhelming! But that's also what I love about this game :) I have 1400 hours in game, and still have TONS of upgrades to work towards. As for setting a smaller goal, I think your first step should be QBD (Queen Black Dragon) and getting a royal cross bow.  I have seen kills on Kerapac and Nex using a royal crossbow, T75 armor, and no overloads:

Not saying I would recommend doing these bosses in this gear... but, these are considered challenging bosses, and they are possible with low tier gear.

You also don't need the herblore requirement for QBD anymore, so your immediate list of things to start PVM:

  • Level 70 smithing (to forge royal crossbow)
  • Buy Royal Crossbow pieces on GE (https://runescape.wiki/w/Royal_crossbow, ~350k)
  • Buy armadyl armor on GE (29.5m)
  • Buy super anti-fires on GE
  • Forge royal crossbow in QBD practice mode:

(this is tricky!  But will help you learn the basics of phasing and reacting to mechanics)

  • Stock up on the following potions by buying on GE:
  • Setup keybindings for your food and restores in a way that makes sense to you
  • Learn to kill QBD (don't worry about times, just worry about surviving and killing)
  • Unlock death's swiftness by completing the world wakes quest and leveling ranged to 80
  • Learn to use thresholds manually in death's swiftness and work on improving QBD kill times.
  • Learn arch-glacor normal mode by toggling one mechanic on at a time

Next steps:

  • Curses
  • Overloads
  • Shadow Glaives (~45m)
