What made you start playing Runescape?

I'm a new player, started a few months ago. I remember growing up I would play on my friends' accounts sometimes but I never got into it myself because I was more into other kid MMORPGs at the time (Free Realms, W101) and also WoW. I'm a college student and usually take notes on paper in class and have my laptop up with the professor's slides. I used to have stuff like cookie clicker or something just up while in class and decided to actually give RS a try after thinking about it for while. Ended up being a perfect thing to AFK during class and do some questing outside of class and the rest is history

When I was a little kid, I saw other people playing at the Duel Arena on the public computers in the library... Then it had a vice grip on me forever after that.

been hearing about it ever since i was a kid but i was never able to afford membership, much later on my brother offered to pay for membership and its been downhill in my school grades ever since

A buddy of mine played it around 2001 or so, he showed me the game and at first I wasn't interested. I tried it out a couple months later and really enjoyed it, this was way back when in Runescape Classic where you had to click every time you wanted to catch a fish. You tried to catch a fish, you failed to catch a fish, click again, repeat.

When I was 12 and entering middle school, a buddy of mine introduced me to the internet.

At that time, I got my first email address, my first social media, and that also was my first time to log in to Runescape.

 

My playing has been VERY off and on for the past 18-19 years, depending on what I'm up to IRL and I took a solid 4-year break from RS when i went to college, but I always keep coming back.  As a result, there are certain ways in which I'm a super-veteran player (Quest Point Cape, Maxxed skill levels, general knowledge of the game), and other ways in which I'm a newb (anything released within the past couple of years and anything related to fighting bosses!)

My brothers friends used to RP and my brother was the ranger but quit so hid friends decided to recruit me and told me somewhat aggressively to get 99 ranged or I couldn't hangout with them so I did and then they all quit lol

I started because my grandpa played it, and he introduced me to it when I was 4 years old and from there my RS3 journey started.

I remember my Older Brother at the time used to play RuneScape around 2007 and I was in elementary, so he introduced me and ever since I always would go back to RuneScape just for the Nostalgia, and I never got to hit a lvl 99 skill and that was always like my DREAM goal as a kid for this game lmfao, so I’m just trying to relive and make it happen this time around.

I Kinda put this in my Introduction but i never really played runescape i knew it existed but it was sorta that "Oh, that game" whenever i thought of it, I Don't know why but after watching some Runescape challenges, tileman ex ex... i sorta thought i kinda wouldn't mind like trying this and i came from Star wars the old republic, which is it's own mess of a MMORPG But a great one, i'd like to revisit it but for now im sorta trying Runescape, I'm enjoying my time here i wouldn't trade, but yeah what made me do it was some dumb youtube videos.. it's amazing what spurs you to do stuff in life.

When i was young around the time of runescapes launch i had an antie who lived far away suggest it as a way to spend time together and since then we would always have a day during a week to sit and play for a few hours together but sadly after time she stopped and it became a solo thing i just couldnt seem to quit

I was introduced to Runescape by a classmate/friend of mine when we were in about the 6th grade. It quickly became my go-to game when I was allowed to use the family computer, and I would wait for my parents to leave for work so I could play for 30 minutes before getting on the school bus.

Oh man ! 4th grade my elementary school won a grant for a computer room, pretty soon 16 kids were all playing RuneScape at once. Yeah that didn’t go well long until they had to hire someone to ban that and a few of us still play together on osrs today haha

My Wife's young cousin was playing and convinced me to play and said you should become a member because his parents wouldn't let him, and he told me you could make good money collecting flax as a member, so I bought him an inventory of flax somehow thinking this was going to make me rich and I said what now? And he replied now do that and again and again and again....... he quit not long after but I was hooked and carried on but found better use of my time than collecting flax.

My friend and I were having a sleep over. I was playing something on a console while he had some game opened in a browser on the computer. I asked him about it and he said, "It's RuneScape, but you probably wont like it." I mainly played FPS games up until that point so it was definitely not something I'd normally get into. Well... 15 years later here I am still playing while he is not.

I was introduced to it by a friend at school, at let me tell you it took off to the point that everyone who played it got called to the Headteachers Office bc someone accused us of bullying and/or scamming our classmates... We were maybe 9
