Pokemon Go - Big News Update

BIG NEWS - So last night Pokemon Go was decoded. This is often referred to as "data mining" where they look in the game code for things we didn't know yet. This is all being compiled to post, but here are some early highlights: - The Trainer Level Cap is 40.       - Egg's cap at Level 20, so if you get an Egg at Level 37 it'll still hatch at the same quality as if you were level 20.  - Wild Pokemon cap at Level 30, meaning after Level 30 everyone will find the same max CP Pokemon and it'll be a matter of spending the candy and stardust to upgrade them to your level's cap based on their CP arc. - There is an achievement/badge rank above gold. - Curveballs and Accurate Throws (Nice, Great, Etc) have been confirmed as helping with the capture chance of a Pokeball throw. - There may be future Incubators that reduce the amount of kilometers needed before they hatch. (There is an incubator called "distance" in the code) - Moves have an Accuracy and a Critical Hit Rate. - Each unique Pokemon has it's own Capture and Flee rate. - Move Damage may go up with Trainer Level. - Pokemon do become harder to catch as you level up. - Mewtwo, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno are Legendary. - Mew is Mythic. - Farfetch'd is out there... somewhere. As is Ditto. - The Charge Meter is filled 0.5 for each 1 HP of damage dealt. This means a super effective move that does more damage will charge the special attack faster - that is actually really important to know. - To level from 39 to 40 takes FIVE MILLION EXPERIENCE, and going from 1 to 40 takes Twenty Million. On my best day I can get about one hundred thousand exp, maybe 125k. So that's like 3-4 months to go from 39 to 40. Won't be seeing that any time soon! lol - Pokemon have a base Attack, Defense and Stamina (HP) - thus they do not have a Attack and Special Attack stat like in the 3DS games. - Dragonite has the strongest base attack for non-legends, at 250. - MewTwo has a base attack of 284. - Moltres has the highest base attack of the three legendary birds. - Articuno has the highest base defense of the three. - Zapdos is almost as high as Moltres in base attack but is likely lower due to Type Advantage. - Pokemon have an evolution modifier AND a HP modifier when they evolve both CP and HP go up a set multiplier. - Defending Pokemon at a Gym attack every 1.5 seconds. - The Master Ball is in the game, no clue where it is found. - The Legendary Pokemon do have a spawn rate - BUT - they have no capture rate, could this mean they require a Master Ball? - STAB is present in the game, giving a 25% Bonus to an attack move. STAB stands for "Same Type Attack Bonus" and means if a Grass Pokemon uses a Grass move it will hit harder than if a Ground Pokemon used the same Grass move. This is a big deal confirmation. These aren't 100% confirmed to come out, just what our sources has found in the game files.

Good to know. People are recommending not to use any of your dust until level 30 because of that CP cap. I've already used most of mine, so I guess I should save it from now on. :(

Sounds like I need to get a Dragonite. Co-workers have been telling me to go to a park not too far from here that's a Dratini nest. One of them got 4 Dratini in 2 minutes. If the servers are good today I'll check it out.

Great find Matt!

I'm level 18 now trying to get to 20 for ultra balls and more egg incubators (I swear I might have to buy more of them...I get too many eggs).  Highest cp currently is 1215 gyarados.  Have 5 others that are over 1000 including all three of the eevees.

Still haven't found a single water Pokemon.. Hit level 8 today and caught a 399 CP Rapidash, which was great because Ponyta aren't easy to find around here (that i've seen so far). Also caught a 29 CP jolteon (LOL) but at least it's a start haha.

I used a magic egg for evolves and hit level 19 today.  Unfortunately my highest level Pokemon are <1000cp still so I'm not super useful in a battle.  My fiance is level 18 but has more pokemon and some higher combat levels.  I suspect a larger share of my xp came from hotspots since I can flick for 50xp throughout the work day (time and server allowing).

Honestly, that is not really a big deal. Anything that would be your best at this point will eventually become terrible as you level up further. You will find Pokemon that have absurdly high CP, which are also almost entirely across the power arc, and they will evolve into your stronger Pokemon. Gym battles are almost worthless right now, anyway.

I've been sitting on an Oddish with 722CP, but I still need to catch about 5 more to evolve it all the way to Vileplume. The problem is that I am having issues finding Oddish.

Only oddish I've seen is the one I hatched out of my first egg yesterday. Some are so stupidly hard to find.

This game is getting me to go to parks I've never considered going to before. Spent a lot of the day in an area I never go to, but I was told was a Pokemon hotspot. Nearly anything spawns there and most of the day there were lures everywhere. Even had a Lapras spawn.

I can't seem to find any wild Vulpix. I've hatched several, but I'm one candy away from being able to evolve it.

Since moving out of the campus area, I now realize that the Pokeball struggle is real. Especially being level 18 when it takes at least 3 balls to catch anything.

I hit level 19 last night.  Grind to 20 is real.  Hoping to have it though by Saturday.  (I still need more egg incubators, have 7 5k eggs I'd like to load all at once)

Update:  My 10km egg hatched.  Got me an electabuzz from it!  Still only around halfway to level 20 but I have several pokemon I plan on evolving with a lucky egg and more that are close to being able to evolve.  With any luck I'll have it by tomorrow.

I am loving that do much... Just awesome.

The only Pokemon I've named is my Snorlax. He's Mongo. It's cute when he's poked and he yawns. Just kept thinking of #pokemongo as "poke Mongo" instead of "Pokemon Go".

Also if you can ive heard people say wait till you're level 20 to hatch 10km eggs as you can get the max CP for the pokemon.

That useless wristband thing got delayed until September. Did anyone on this thread even plan on getting that?
